One of the roles of the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is to improve services for patients going through cancer treatment and diagnosis. This survey is one of the mechanisms we are using to understand more about the experience of care for patients who have been told they have or are being treated for lung cancer.
The insight gained from the survey responses will be shared with hospital teams and service providers, so we can work together to improve patient experience of care.
We have taken some of the themes highlighted by our patients within the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (CPES) and extended them to try to get a more in depth understanding to help us to continue to improve services for our patients.
You have been given this questionnaire as someone who has recently been told they have lung cancer or is undergoing treatment for lung cancer. We would appreciate a few minutes of your time to share your experience, good or otherwise, of your care – the feedback you provide can relate to any element of your experience, and contact with any healthcare professional or wider, including, but not limited to, GPs, Oncologists, Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, administrative staff and others. It is also an opportunity for you to tell us how you think our services could be improved.
The survey refers to a patient's cancer pathway. The pathway is a patient's journey from the initial suspicion of cancer through to clinical investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
The survey is anonymous, and responses will be analysed and themed, ensuring no individual is identifiable. It should only take around 10 minutes of your time to complete. Data will be processed in accordance with Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Boards (ICB) Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy. You can view the policy at this link: ICB Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy.
We understand that sharing your experiences of lung cancer care can be upsetting. If you would like to access support, please speak to a member of your care team, or contact the Macmillan support services helpline on 0808 808 00 00 (the helpline is open 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm).
